June 22, 2012 — To meet the increased need for advanced ultrasound equipment, Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. has partnered with United Medical Instruments (UMI), a worldwide provider of new and pre-owned ultrasound systems, parts and transducers, to sell Toshiba’s ultrasound systems to the private physician office and clinic market in the United States.
“The private office space has a growing need for advanced ultrasound solutions, especially for musculoskeletal applications,” said Tomohiro Hasegawa, director of the ultrasound business unit at Toshiba. “Toshiba’s ultrasound systems offer cutting edge visualization features with breakthrough technology, and we are looking forward to making a tremendous impact in the office market.”
Under this agreement, UMI will act as distributor of Toshiba’s ultrasound product line to the office market. With more than 20 sales and applications specialists throughout the United States, UMI will provide private physicians greater access to Toshiba ultrasound systems and solutions.
