May 3, 2012 — When 300 of the nation’s top college football players converged on Indianapolis in February for the National Football League (NFL) Scouting Combine, they were evaluated with one of the most advanced, wireless digital radiography systems available today — the Aero DR. Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis conducted the imaging exams on the Aero DR as part of a comprehensive physical for participants in the combine, held Feb. 22-28. The annual event is where top NFL executives, coaches and medical personnel evaluate collegiate players eligible for the NFL Draft. Only those players invited may attend.

As the world’s lightest wireless flat panel, the Aero DR is also one of the fastest; images are available for preview in three seconds. Its detectors incorporate Konica Minolta’s Cesium Iodide (CsI) scintillator that boast ultra-high detector quantum efficiency (DQE) and take advantage of Konica Minolta’s low-power IC design to decrease readout noise and further raise DQE.

“The Aero DR worked flawlessly. We captured well over 300 images with the system, and it provided us with superb images and a highly enhanced workflow,” said Todd Stanley, administrative director of radiology, IU Health Methodist Hospital. “Plus, we were able to retrofit it to an older analog radiology room.”

Aero DR systems meet international standards for 14 x 17- and 17 x 17-inch cassette sizes, and fit existing wall stands and bucky trays without modifications to help a facility maximize its investment in existing equipment and deliver a universal fit solution. Aero DR systems are offered in varying configurations to meet both retrofit and new room purchase scenarios.
