January 26, 2012 — Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corporation announced the acquisition of K&S Röntgenwerk Bochum, a provider of X-ray generators for medical diagnostic applications, based in Bochum, Germany.

K&S designs, produces and markets diagnostic medical X-ray generators and subsystems for the general medical X-ray market.  Their product line consists of 40, 50, 65 and 80kW high frequency generators capable of routine radiographic and fluoroscopic applications, as well as digital radiography and will continue to be marketed under the K&S brand.  K&S generators are modular, high quality and compatible with many of the X-ray tubes and digital X-ray detectors on the market today.

Under the terms of the deal, Spellman will acquire 100 percent of K&S stock and the company will operate under the name: Spellman High Voltage GmbH.  The operation in Bochum will continue as before and remain under the direction of Gerhard Marks as managing director.  Spellman will augment the Bochum operation with its global supply chain, engineering capabilities, and worldwide sales force.

“Becoming part of Spellman provides K&S with global resources to support our current customers and greater opportunities to expand our business globally. K&S and Spellman together make an excellent cultural and technical fit, and jointly we will bring long term growth for K&S employees,” said Marks.
