January 12, 2012 – Fujifilm Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. announced that the endoscopy equipment provider Fujinon will fully integrate as a division of the diagnostic imaging and medical informatics company. Fujinon had previously operated as a subsidiary of Fujifilm.

Under the new structure, the Fujinon brand will remain in place and build upon the expanding Fujifilm medical systems portfolio. Fujinon’s advanced technologies include the first commercially available flexible video endoscope, the first high-resolution charge-coupled device (CCD) super image flexible video endoscope, the first high definition flexible endoscopes, and the only endoscopic system - double balloon endoscopy - capable of reaching the entire small bowel. Fujifilm's medical systems products include digital radiography solutions for most conventional x-ray needs, including flat-panel detectors, portable systems, room replacements and full field digital mammography as well as the Synapse line of medical informatics products.

As part of the merger, Keiichi Nagata will join Fujifilm Medical Systems U.S.A. Inc.’s Executive Leadership Team as the division president of the company’s endoscopy division.
