December 29, 2011 — Premier Imaging Ventures announced it has spun off several of its support entities to create a new venture called Lucid Radiology Solutions. The new company’s mission is to empower regional radiology groups with technology and insight that will increase the strategic value of their radiology practices.

Many radiology groups find themselves having invested in IT hardware and software but still don’t have the tools to make their radiologists more effective. Consolidation of practices into larger regional groups drives the need to subspecialize, provide 24/7 coverage and increasingly read across multiple acquisition sites with different PACS and dictation systems. Lucid was formed to address these concerns.

Core to the Lucid offering is the RadAssist application, which brings complex multi-site worklists into one window pane with no manual routing resources required. It allows disparate dictation systems to be combined into one workflow and eliminates multiple passwords/logins to different systems.

“RadAssist provides a more flexible and customizable workflow, because we break down all of the data collection into its most fundamental form. This enables Lucid to easily manage sophisticated reading practices, privileges and priorities,” said Ron Hosenfeld, chief technology officer of Lucid. “We have data elements from RIS, HIS, dictation systems, EMR, scheduling systems, multiple PACS and modalities, all feeding a database that delivers on-demand relevant information as needed.”

RadAssist has been in heavy clinical use for more than one year and has managed more than one million exams across 14 hospitals and 20 outpatient facilities.

Lucid Radiology Solutions will be introducing and demonstrating its products and services at RSNA 2011.
