November 15, 2011 – The new full iterative technology (FIT) now available on the BrightView XCT uses advanced algorithms for the truest picture possible. New clinical cases show that concurrent imaging allows for shorter exams and smarter assessments.

The BrightView XCT represents the first time Philips has used a flat-panel X-ray detector for the purpose of computed tomography (CT) imaging. The high resolution of the flat panel allows for true isotropic voxels and provides high-quality images when viewed at any angle. Co-planar single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and CT capabilities eliminate the need to index the bed between the two acquisitions, which for many studies provides greater confidence in image registration.

Attenuation correction helps to reduce image artifacts and may help physicians make more confident diagnoses, especially in cardiology applications. Additionally, high-resolution localization using low CT dose to patients provides anatomical information to aid in diagnosis and help provide more accurate reporting of lesion location based on the anatomy displayed by CT.
