August 5, 2011 – Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago will install Merge Healthcare’s iConnect software suite (vendor-neutral archive [VNA], access and share) at its 270-bed facility.

Children’s Memorial Hospital required a solution that would enable their pediatric radiologists to view, read and archive images from multiple locations in a single solution. With the Merge iConnect software suite, pediatric radiologists and treating providers will be able to access images on any workstation, onsite or remote, at any time.

“Images are a critically important element when it comes to diagnosing and providing care,” said Stan Krok, CIO at Children’s Memorial Hospital. “And when you receive as many imaging referrals as we do, ensuring you can share and provide access to those images with your physicians becomes equally important. iConnect is providing us with a solution that will improve physician workflow and ultimately, patient care.”

Merge’s iConnect suite of solutions includes a VNA that enables physicians to manage content from disparate departmental solutions, and a zero-footprint digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) and XDS viewer that provides image review from any approved Web-enabled device and enables the sharing of images between referring centers without the need for additional equipment. Merge also offers advanced viewing capabilities that provide a complete set of diagnostic tools, including 3-D that can also be shared across the enterprise.

“Children’s Memorial Hospital clearly demonstrates the power and value of image interoperability, and is a perfect example of how an organization can transform the healthcare delivery process by sharing information,” said Jeff Surges, CEO, Merge Healthcare. “As a leader in imaging management, Children’s is setting the bar for others to follow.”
