Agfa HealthCare announced today that it has signed a multi-million dollar deal with Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, WV, a 260-bed facility that provides a complete Radiology Information System / Picture Archiving and Communication System / Reporting and Computed Radiology (RIS/PACS/Reporting and CR) solution. The installation includes Agfa HealthCare’s IMPAX 6.0 PACS and the newest version of Agfa HealthCare’s reporting solution, TalkStation 3.1. It also includes six DX-S CR systems, which feature Agfa HealthCare’s unique DirectriX needle-based detector technology and Scanhead line-to-line CR stimulation and light collection technology, for improved image quality and workflow.

As part of an expansion project, the hospital is constructing a new imaging center across the street from the main facility. It also already has an offsite MRI center (Metro MRI) in a separate location. All three facilities will be connected via Agfa HealthCare’s complete system. The new imaging center, Thomas Imaging Center, is expected to open in March 2007, at which time the integrated Agfa HealthCare RIS/PACS/Reporting and CR solution will be fully implemented and operational.

The new system marks the first time the hospital will use a fully digital solution.

Teamwork between Agfa HealthCare and Radon Medical Imaging, a Quantum Medical Imaging dealer, played a key role in this sale.  Radon has a long-standing service relationship with Thomas Memorial and will play a key role with Agfa HealthCare in the Thomas solution.
