December 21, 2007 - Cancer patients looking to communicate with family and friends during their treatment process can now do so with the launch of MyLifeLine.org, a free personalized Web site tool.
Through the creation of their own customized websites, patients can share updates and photos via one central location. At the same time, they build an online support community that fosters inspiration, connection, and healing. MyLifeLine Cancer Foundation, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with cancer, is the creator of MyLifeLine.org.
The founder of MyLifeLine.org, Marcia Donziger, personally experienced the emotional roller coaster of cancer. At the age of 27, Marcia was diagnosed with Stage III ovarian cancer. She discovered that it was emotionally draining to repeat the same information about her condition to everyone she talked to, yet she felt guilty about not staying in touch with concerned family and friends. In 2003, six years after her own diagnosis, Marcia learned about Lori Arquilla Andersen, a young cancer patient who created her own personal website in order to stay in touch with family and friends. Inspired by Lori, Marcia decided to make a difference for other cancer patients by enabling them to set up their own free Web sites.

MyLifeLine's vision is to enable newly-diagnosed patients to connect easily with other cancer survivors in an effort to learn from their experiences and to make new friends with those who understand. A future upgrade of the Web site will contain a directory to make it possible for cancer patients to search for others with a similar diagnosis, age range, treatment schedule,among criteria.
