March 7, 2008 – Healthcare data automation solutions provider iSirona recently released a new white paper, “The Business Case for a Medical Device Data System,” written by a third-party consulting firm, which identifies the patient care benefits and strong financial returns that can be realized by implementing a medical device data system (MDDS).

Given the fast pace of technology innovation in healthcare, the number of medical devices and their complexity continue to grow. With more data to manage, there is an increasing need to automate the flow of patient information from medical devices to electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinical information systems (CIS).

“The ROI study demonstrates just how significant the impact of implementing a MDDS solution can be,” explained iSirona CEO Dave Dyell. “For a sample hospital with 450 nurses, annual savings could reach up to $5 million through reduced infrastructure costs and improved quality of care and patient safety.”

The white paper is available immediately and can be downloaded for free at www.isirona.com/whitepaper.html.
