April 14, 2008 - Resurgent Health and Medical said today Weirton Medical Center in Brooke County, WV purchased 11 CleanTech IC hand-washing systems.
The community hospital has had a CleanTech unit since January and ordered an additional 10 systems to use throughout the entire facility. Locations include inpatient units and critical care, in addition to public areas including near the main lobby and outside the cafeteria for use by visitors, patients and staff.
“We love the CleanTech machine and we have been thrilled with the response from our staff, patients and visitors,” said Diane Wiegmann, RN, MEd, CPHQ, and administrator at Weirton Medical Center. “Our number one priority is to increase hand hygiene compliance rates.”
The CleanTech touchless system performs a fully-automated 12-second wash, sanitize and rinse cycle. Using Meritech’s proprietary Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG) sanitizing solution, the single cycle removes more than 99.9 percent of pathogens and continues to kill germs for up to six hours, the company said. The FDA certified CHG-based sanitizer contains mild skin conditioners to continuously improve skin health while removing dangerous germs. The system helps boosts compliance by ensuring a uniform hand-wash using high-pressure water jets that perform a consistent wash-and-sanitize cycle every time the machines are used, the company said.
