December 20, 2010 – A new digital radiography (DR) system and lightweight DR panel features a rotating Bucky. The Kalare X-ray system, by Toshiba, provides advanced productivity and efficiency while increasing patient comfort with its extended table weight limit, tableside controls and dose reduction technology.

The lightweight DR panel detector is designed to enhance clinician productivity for work outside the Bucky. The eight-pound, 14-inch by 17-inch panel can be easily positioned, accommodating numerous types of exams. This makes it ideal for imaging ambulatory, wheelchair and stretcher patients. Furthermore, a new rotating Bucky tray allows technologists to easily rotate the detector from portrait to landscape without having to take the detector out of the Bucky tray. The light weight of the panel combined with the rotating Bucky tray enables quicker and more efficient exams.

The system combines a superior user interface and capability set with all-digital imaging for fluoroscopic and radiographic examinations. With its high-resolution, removable, lightweight flat panel detector, all digital images can be captured and displayed virtually instantaneously on digital workstations. The all-digital image acquisition completely eliminates costs associated with conventional film. Also, the rapid-processing and instant access to images increases productivity by shortening exam times and reducing the need for retakes.
