November 30, 2010 – A new application allows radiologists to share images, reports critical results and other information on the iPad. With the WebWorks iPad Viewer application, from Brit Systems, radiologists can connect to the company’s Roentgen Works PACS server to share images.

“The iPad is the ideal platform for referring physicians to provide patient education and use on hospital rounds and for patient portals,” said Shelly Fisher, president of BRIT Systems. “With the WebWorks iPad Viewer, radiologists can provide mobile tools for the referring physician and their patients. This extends our motto of any image, anywhere, any time to mobile users – and expands it to include CCR and other critical patient information and communications.”

The viewer provides cross-enterprise support via Roentgen Works’ health information exchange (HIE) Patient Discovery and its optional Master Patient Index (MPI). Legacy PACS, vendor neutral archives (VNAs) and electronic medical records (EMRs) can be browser and iPad enabled with minimal integration work. Patients will be able to download the application from the Apple Store.

Users can select images or a series from thumbnails and then scrolll, zoom and pan, and window/leveling for selecting preset values or incremental changes. The application also provides cine viewing, auto-synchronization and quick navigation to reports, worklists and additional patient information. It can also be used to communicate urgent findings and ER discordance.
