May 11, 2010 - Hybrid scanning systems are increasingly being used to improve tumor identification, treatment delivery and monitor treatment effectiveness.
Proper alignment of fused images is an ongoing concern, particularly with hybrid modalities, such as single photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT), positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and computed tomography/magnetic resonance imaging (CT/MRI).
The Model 802 Gillian QA Phantom recently released by CIRS Inc. is designed for evaluating image distortion and alignment in these hybrid scanning systems.
Images produced with the phantom can show if there is any mismatch in the fused images. The simple geometry allows for quick visual interpretation and independent assessment of equipment function.
