April 28, 2010 - Sheela D. Konda, M.D., Ph.D., and Morlie Wang, M.D., MPH, are the recipients of the 2010 American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) educational grants sponsored by the medical imaging company.

The recipients will be honored during a presentation held at the Scholars and Awards session at the ARRS 2010 Annual Meeting, May 2–7 in San Diego, Calif.

The grants, sponsored by Fujifilm Medical Systems USA, are valued at $2,500 each. The funds will cover registration and courses for Konda and Wang during the entire ARRS meeting, as well as lodging and travel to and from the conference.

Konda, who is currently pursuing her fellowship in breast and women’s imaging at Northwestern University, Chicago, plans to pursue a career in diagnostic radiology. Konda participated in research that will be presented as an oral paper in the breast imaging scientific session, in which her team will discuss possible solutions to the diagnostic challenge breast imagers often have when correlating mammogram, ultrasound, and MRI findings.

Wang, a first year diagnostic radiology resident at Stroger Hospital of Cook County, Chicago, is researching cost-effective ways for underserved populations to receive breast cancer screening. A trained family practice specialist with a masters degree in Public Health (MPH), Wang has experience in a variety of primary care areas including colon cancer screening, an anticoagulation and breast cancer screening.
