November 18, 2009 - Referring physicians and their patients now have access to diagnostic images with a new browser-based application for viewing patient images and reports on any computer with an Internet connection.
The new application, Webworks, also provides access to radiologists for for low volume review. The platform uses the latest information technologies (IT), such as AJAX for real-time updating of patient lists and clustering technology for true redundancy and load balancing. The application has been designed to work without requiring any downloads, not even Flash.
WebWorks’ image analysis and review tools include viewing a time line of prior studies, opening multiple patient and studies at the same time via tabs, viewing the study with the report simultaneously, and advanced image formatting, including magnification and length measurements.
Developed by Brit Systems, WebWorks can be integrated with Brit's SpeechWorks application, which stores and plays voice clips. When integrated with UrgentWorks, radiologists can enter a critical result and the user can read it and acknowledge it from the application. With the ER Discordance tool in UrgentWorks, ER physicians can use the WebWorks interface to view the images, enter their calls and acknowledge receipt of the radiologist’s findings. Radiologists can also view the images and enter information, including full reports, from anywhere. Using WebWorks, clinicians can also query the Roentgen Works server for patient studies using a wide range of criteria, including: name, ID, study date range, study status, body region, modality, CPT code, referring physician, radiologist and facility.
