CyberKnife VSI System

November 4, 2009 - Accuray unveiled the CyberKnife VSI System, extends the CyberKnife System’s robotic radiosurgery capabilities to enable high precision radiation therapy and Robotic IMRT, at the ASTRO 2009 annual meeting held Nov. 1-5 in Chicago, Ill.

CyberKnife VSI System extends the CyberKnife technology to all fractionation schemes to provide greater flexibility to the user. Treatments can now be designed and optimized to fit every patient’s unique needs without compromising accuracy, treatment times or critical structure sparing. The system continues to offer thousands of beam angles and real-time corrections for target motion.

The CyberKnife VSI System provides a comprehensive set of tools to manage each step of care from pre-planning to post-delivery. The system integrates readily and easily into an institution’s existing infrastructure. The CyberKnife VSI System can be installed into existing vaults designed for gantry-based linac delivery systems saving both time and money. Compatibility with well-known Oncology Information System infrastructure solutions is assured for easy integration of the CyberKnife VSI System. A brief learning curve allows sites to go-live quickly and to start recognizing the benefits that CyberKnife technology is bringing daily to an increasing number of patients and users.

Treatment planning is performed in a clinically intuitive manner. The MultiPlan Treatment Planning System is widely recognized for capabilities that other systems can only aspire to. From scripted planning capabilities to state-of-the-art dose calculations, the advanced tools enable the creation of expert-level plans in minimal time.

The robotic capabilities of the system are leveraged to ensure that the plans created are the plans delivered. The continual image guidance, target tracking and real-time corrections are used to enable adaptive treatment delivery automatically. Innovative adaptive motion compensation technologies recognize and automatically correct for all patient motion – from respiratory motion to random prostate motion – without user intervention or treatment couch repositioning.
