October 5, 2009 - Fujifilm’s new DR-based full field digital mammography (FFDM) system, the Aspire-HD, will make its U.S. debut on the showroom floor at the RSNA 2009 annual meeting held Nov. 29 - Dec. 4 in Chicago, Ill.

Already in use in other regions of the world, the Aspire HD is differentiated from other FFDM systems with its next-generation detector technology which employs direct optical switching (DOS) and smallest pixel size – 50 micron – in a 24x30cm a-Se (amorphous selenium) panel.

The result is a significantly lower dose and images with low noise and very high spatial resolution. Additionally, the unique bucky design addresses patient comfort while assuring maximum access to the chest wall. The Aspire HD comes complete with Fujifilm’s new AWS-d, a color workstation for technologists.

Both the Aspire HD and the AWS-d require FDA approval and are not yet available for sale in the U.S.
