June 4, 2009 – Canon U.S.A. Inc., will demonstrate its current line of portable and general DR systems, including the new Canon CXDI-40G COMPACT DR System, at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM 2009), June 4–6 in Charlotte, N.C., (booth 330).

Canon DR Systems and solutions on display at SIIM 2009 will include:

Canon CXDI-40G COMPACT DR System – The newest addition to Canon’s DR Systems line-up, the CXDI-40G COMPACT DR System has a large image sensor and a 17 x 17 inch imaging area that enables X-ray images to be confirmed on an optional preview monitor approximately three seconds after exposure. The new DR system offers multiple applications, which allows for efficient capture of high-resolution (7.2 million pixels) radiological images in a timely manner, and can be retrofitted into a range of radiography devices including upright stands, RF tables, and Bucky units. The CXDI-40G COMPACT DR System is unit that can meet facilities’ general radiographic needs while contributing to significant cost savings, the company said.

Portable DR Systems – The award-winning Canon CXDI-50G Portable DR system offers a thin, lightweight design and has a large imaging area (14 x 17 inch). When combined with a mobile unit, the CXDI-50G can bring digital radiography to the patient's bedside. Designed for diverse applications, the compact design is a practical solution for a wide range of room applications that are difficult to perform with fixed devices. The CXDI-50G DR System will be shown integrated with the VIR50 Bucky. The RadPRO VIR50 Bucky has been specifically engineered for the Canon CXDI-50 Series digital radiography multipurpose flat panel detector. Its original design allows for a quick, easy “digital upgrade” solution for both chest stand and table applications for most existing diagnostic equipment. The panel can rotate into landscape or portrait imaging without being removed from the Bucky.

Canon DR Image Viewer Software – Canon helps to improve workflow efficiency of digital radiography systems with this interface. Canon DR images can be manipulated without compromising throughput.

This software provides the user with pixel-to-pixel display of individual or multiple high-resolution Canon DR images. The Canon DR Image Viewer software, which features pan, zoom and measurement tools such as cob angles, can save images to a CD and send images to a Windows-based desktop printer or a DICOM standard-compliant network device. In addition, its optional modules, including stitching and implant matching for surgical templating applications, make it ideal for scoliosis and long-leg imaging, as well as for pre-surgical planning for the orthopedic surgeon. Also included in the new version of DR Image Viewer software is DR Image Viewer Light, which offers the ability to copy an image to a CD/DVD with or without a subset of the viewing and manipulating tools.

PIXMA Pro9500 Photo Printer – In addition, the Canon booth will display the PIXMA Pro9500 photo printer, which is not intended or cleared for diagnostic purposes, is a 10-color ink printer that produces a wide color gamut to achieve vivid coloration and high glossiness, and prints up to 13 x 19 inches on plain paper and specialty media. The Pro9500 can be used by medical facilities that print long images such as long-leg or other stitched images.

Additionally, Canon’s proprietary control software, which supports superb image-processing performance, helps physicians increase their diagnostic accuracy by allow for X-ray images that enhance the area being examined. Images can be transmitted quickly over the hospital network to other workstations and printers, and can be archived for data sharing.
