May 18, 2009 - Health Canada has given its approval for a full field digital mammography (FFDM) system Planmed Nuance Excel by Finnish Planmed Oy, as well as approval for the Nuance DigiGuide digital stereotactic system.

Planmed Nuance Excel features a large 24x31 cm amorphous selenium (a-Se) detector. The unit is equipped with Planmed’s proprietary MaxView Breast Positioning System which facilitates breast positioning and helps to draw and capture more chest wall tissue into the field of view maximising the amount of visible breast tissue seen on the mammogram. The digital stereotactic biopsy system Nuance DigiGuide is the most light-weight stereotactic device available today, and it is available as an option for the whole line of Planmed FFDM products.

Earlier Planmed has obtained Medical Device License for the Canadian market for the Planmed Nuance full field digital mammography system. Planmed Nuance and Planmed Nuance Excel units suit as well for screening as for diagnostic procedures. In addition to two detector sizes the Planmed FFDM product line is well known for its excellent image quality, low radiation dose, exquisite design and superior ergonomics.
