April 3, 2009 – GE Healthcare IT and Microsoft Corp. today announced the companies have entered into an independent software vendor (ISV) alliance agreement to provide customers with enhanced healthcare IT administration capabilities that support GE’s Centricity Enterprise healthcare IT solution, currently in use by many hospitals worldwide.

Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 will be the foundation for billing, accounting, human resources, and materials management applications that integrate with the clinical, patient administration, and financial capabilities in Centricity Enterprise. When combined, every aspect of patient care will be accurately captured in the electronic patient record created by Centricity Enterprise and automatically passed to the Microsoft Dynamics AX solution to generate bills, update supply inventories or inform staffing plans. GE Healthcare and Microsoft bring more than 60 years of combined experience in supporting the most demanding and complex IT requirements.

“Today we are greatly enhancing the capabilities we offer to our customers by working with Microsoft to integrate our current software solutions,” said Laurent Rotival, senior vice president and general manager of GE Healthcare’s Enterprise Solutions division. “Customers will benefit from leading edge capabilities and knowledge from GE and Microsoft in a solution that is proven, agile, and efficient. On many levels this is an unprecedented combination of power, functionality and vision in Healthcare IT.”

“Improving the efficiency of operations is a priority for healthcare customers worldwide,” said Tim Smokoff, general manager for Microsoft’s Worldwide Public Sector division. “Through the GE alliance we will enable customers to have clinical and administrative applications that work as a single, integrated offering with best of breed capabilities across all areas. The potential to help our shared customers gain increased value form their healthcare IT investments is compelling.”

The integration will include:
- GE Healthcare Centricity Enterprise clinical and administration software
- New DynaBS Healthcare Administration Suite for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009, including enterprise resource planning, billing and payroll/human resource applications
- Access to a worldwide network of certified Microsoft Dynamics AX partners offering capabilities to customize and implement the solution for customers.
