7i On-Demand PACS

March 4, 2009 - 7 Medical Systems LLC, an on-demand picture archiving and communication system (PACS), teleradiology and electronic medical record (EMR) solutions provider, reported it won 11 new contracts at sites located in Minnesota, Mississippi, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin.

Two of the 11 new customers have subscribed to 7i Teleradiology-on-Demand Suite, including one group reading for rural and critical access hospitals and clinics, and the other providing reading services primarily to imaging centers. Six community/critical access hospitals and two orthopaedic groups have signed on for the 7i Imaging-on-Demand (PACS) Suite, while one family practice physician group has subscribed to the 7p PRM-on- Demand Suite for EMR.

Lastly, two organizations, including one in Sao Paolo, Brazil, have signed on as partners, selling 7 Medical’s 7i Suite for on-demand PACS and teleradiology services as opposed to traditional capital-intensive IT models. “The 7i Suite provides Brazilians with a great way to break into the digital PACS and teleradiology world utilizing pay-as-you-go services with little or no upfront capital costs,” said Jose Guedes, CEO of Amplita, 7 Medical’s sales, service and support partner in Brazil. “Customers are realizing they do not have to wait to take advantage of automated workflows and savings,” said Guedes.

On-demand services aim to remove barriers to entry for community hospitals, imaging centers, radiology groups and ambulatory clinics, getting them into PACS, teleradiology and EMR much quicker and and cost-effectively. According to the vendor, their products offer the following:

- Eliminate up-front and ongoing capital costs of owning and managing servers, hardware and software in-house;
- OfferPACS, teleradiology and EMR at affordable, pay-as-you-go monthly fees such as pay per study, provider or claim -facilities pay for only what they need;
- Providing a complete, enterprise-wide solution from one provider, with reliable 24/7 service and support, and that is available from any Internet connection - anytime, anywhere;
- Assigning clinical project managers to manage implementation and training;
- Delivering more efficient, automated workflows at the primary facility as well as between remote locations and other referring sites;
- Integrating disparate PACS, RIS, EMR and other systems, such as dictation and transcription, using open standards and protocols such as DICOM, HL7, SQL and XML;
- Minimizing exposure to risk with built in backup and disaster recovery systems;
- Protecting from technology obsolescence with system upgrades and updates automatically included - no additional hardware or software maintenance or upgrade fees ever.
