September 16, 2008 – GE Healthcare IT introduced Centricity PACS-IW version 3.7.1., derived from GE’s Dynamic Imaging and designed to provide an intuitive platform for radiologists through its enhanced performance, interface navigation and ergonomic design.

The recent installment of GE’s Centricity PACS-IW, the first major release since Dynamic Imaging acquisition, is a Web-based PACS technology with tools aimed to sustain flexible IT models for outpatient imaging centers, virtual radiology practices, physician offices and hospitals.

Version 3.7.1 delivers new functionality for key performance areas to manage and stay ahead of the growing volume of imaging studies. Some of these new capabilities include:

- Study layout and navigator enhancements, including an exclusive, ergonomic approach to user interface design that improves upon and retires the need for the traditional drag ‘n’ drop interface used throughout competing PACS solutions

- Enhanced comparison capability, which enables the concurrent display of series from a multiple studies

- HTML templates for referring physician result emails to include customer branding

Some of the new technology includes:performance improvements for image insertion and mapping; faster display time for the first image; enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) support, for use of an EMPI (if available), as well as manual auto-linking of MRNs, to identify historical studies on PACS-IW across the enterprise; and support for Windows Vista and IE7, for all client devices, including referring physician access.
