March 7, 2008 - Siemens Healthcare revealed at ECR 2008 its latest DR system, Ysio, designed to provide a single DR solution for almost all clinical requirements, allowing users to create their own Ysio X-ray system customized to their needs.

The new system includes a configurator software tool that helps determine the correct system variant for each customer. Ysio also boasts a ceiling-mounted color "MaxTouch" touch screen allowing users to adjust system functions such as examination and exposure parameters or the dose.

The fully-automated ceiling-mounted support choice provides over 500 pre-programmable system positions, allowing users to move the tube into the correct position for the desired exposure with the push of a button. If the X-ray beam is aligned vertically, it can be automatically moved into a horizontal alignment.

The wi-D wireless detector is mobile and can be placed underneath or next the patient, providing flexibility to patients in wheelchairs as well as allowing for better placement of hard to reach exposures such as lateral exposures of the hip, according to the company. The wireless detector transmits image data to the diagnostic workstation via WLAN and reportedly has the same flexibly as a cassette in analog X-ray systems while offering the advantages of digital X-ray imaging.
