February 8, 2008 - ProHEALTH Care Associates LLP recently selected GE Healthcare’s Centricity Electronic Medical Record (EMR) solution to streamline its practice and patient-care management functions.

Additionally, ProHEALTH selected GE Healthcare’s RIS and Billing IT solutions, Centricity Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Services and GE Discovery PET/CT. These investments, along with prior equipment acquisitions, have streamlined operations, improved care and consolidated technology under one holistic portfolio of GE Healthcare solutions, the healthcare system said.

ProHEALTH Care Associates LLP is one of New York’s largest multi-specialty patient-care organizations, serving more than 750,000 patients annually.

“GE provided us the most complete option to further modernize our billing, records and imaging functions,” said David Cooper, M.D., managing partner, ProHEALTH Care Associates. “Our mission is to provide our patients the best, most advanced care possible, as we roll out these new technologies over the coming year, we take another step in doing just that.”

ProHEALTH’s purchase began as a search to update its existing billing functionality. Building upon ProHEALTH’s existing GE Healthcare solutions, the company saw the value of implementing Centricity Group Management, EMR and RIS functions across its various locations and specialties.

GE said the advanced clinical content embedded in Centricity EMR will help provide ProHEALTH’s physicians with nationally accepted, evidence-based alerts at the point of care, which helps support patient care decisions and can help them reduce medical errors. In addition, Centricity’s EDI services, a Web-based claims management solution, will assist the company in managing claims with a proactive monitoring service with automated and customized task management. GE said the Discovery PET/CT system will provide clinician access to an advanced diagnostic device to help with faster and more accurate information to aid physicians in making treatment decisions.
