August 27, 2007 – Toshiba America Medical Systems announced the installation of two Infinix CF-i/BP vascular X-ray systems at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Sibley Heart Center, providing a five-axis bi-plane system that is designed for improved patient access.

The hospital selected the units for the five-axis bi-plane system, flat panel detector movement and C-arm flexibility, according to Robert Vincent, M.D., pediatric cardiologist and head of the Cardiac Catheterization Department, Children’s Sibley Heart Center.

The system reportedly allows physicians to image using two planes simultaneously, reducing the amount of contrast given to infant patients compared to when using a single plane system. The Infinix CF-i/BP floor based rotation mechanism of the C-arm allows 180 degree access around the head end of the table. The freely moving components, ergonomic design and five-axis positioner are designed to enable physicians to obtain optimal angles for cardiac diagnosis and interventional procedures without re-positioning the patient.
