August 27, 2007 – Thinking Systems Corporation announced The Joint Department of Medical Imaging for University Health Network (UHN), Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH) and Women's College Hospital (WCH) of Toronto purchased Thinking Systems' ThinkingPACS solutions to address the unique needs for nuclear medicine, nuclear cardiology, PET-CT and PET-CT fusion, and other specialty modalities.
Thinking Systems is known for its innovative PACS (picture archiving and communication system) and RIS (radiology information system) and its broad product portfolio.
The announcement was made jointly by ADN Canada Inc., Thinking Systems' exclusive distributor in Canada, and The Joint Department of Medical Imaging for UHN, MSH and WCH of Toronto. The multi-modality PACS solution will include Thinking Systems' flagship ModalityBroker, which plays the key role in integrating these specialty modalities to the existing PACS, NuGateway DICOM gateway that brings nuclear medicine data from legacy scanners and workstations to PACS, and MDStation multi-modality PACS workstation. The company says it will provide cutting-edge clinical solutions for PET-CT and SPECT-CT fusion, nuclear cardiology processing and quantitative analysis, general nuclear medicine review and SPECT processing, general radiology image review for CT, MR, CR/DR, general ultrasound, cardiology review for echocardiogram and cath lab, and advanced MPR (multi-planner reformatting) tools for volumetric image data.
"We are very much looking forward to integrating our nuclear medicine and traditional medical imaging modalities on to one PACS platform across our network," said Scott Jarett, senior director of The Joint Department. "We anticipate the installation of Thinking Systems' PACS will greatly enhance the quality of care at UHN, while also adding efficiencies and reducing our costs."
"Thinking Systems and ADN Canada Inc., are pleased to announce the Joint Department's decision to purchase Thinking Systems PACS," said Kenneth Giles, president, ADN Canada. "With this installation, cutting edge technology will be accessible to staff, radiologists, and physicians across five state- of-the-art hospital locations."
"We chose Thinking Systems because their PACS solution will clearly meet our need for a diversified viewing platform that is also fully integrated for PET-CT and SPECT-CT Fusion, Nuclear Cardiology Processing, and other modalities," said Marc A. Freeman, M.D., F.R.C.P., who led the Medical Imaging team of radiologists and IT professionals at UHN to evaluate and make a purchasing decision.
