At SIIM 2008, Siemens will showcase its syngo Suite portfolio of image management solutions, a Web-enabled radiology information system (RIS) and picture archiving and communications system (PACS) with integrated image post-processing, computer-aided detection (CAD), embedded speech recognition or dictation and voice functions.

The syngo Suite workflow engine pulls only relevant information from syngo Workflow (RIS) and syngo Imaging (PACS) into the Portal Radiologist to optimize a radiologist’s tasks, according to Siemens. Portal Radiologist reportedly helps simplify the work of the radiologist.

syngo Imaging workplace features the syngo common user interface, the same user interface found on Siemens diagnostic imaging modalities. The user interface also enables image processing with a minimal number of mouse clicks and mouse travel. The Smart Select tool allows the radiologist to perform a multitude of viewing and post processing functions without diverting from the image display.

The syngo Imaging system stores all data in loss-less DICOM JPEG 2000 format. In order to address the large image data volumes that are produced by new imaging modalities such as multi-slice computed tomography, a progressive transmission protocol enables the workstation to access large image series almost immediately.

syngo Imaging XS is syngo Suite’s scalable PACS solution. The syngo Imaging XS solution is tailored to a customer’s adapt volume and the solution supports centralized and de-centralized system architectures.

As part of the syngo Suite, syngo Imaging XS provides numerous modules for digital image reading, archiving as well as image distribution within a customer’s IT framework and departmental workflow. syngo Imaging XS comes with many IT standards, such as Windows-based hardware and software, standards-based interfaces and it includes advanced features such as status handling, multi-monitor support, advanced image-reading (2D) and a cost-efficient 3D option (MIP, MPR, SSD,VRT).

syngo Workflow RIS supports the complete radiological workflow from order entry to image and report distribution. More efficient radiological diagnoses and interpretation are enabled via the new Radiologist Portal and these efficiencies are realized by combining the traditional information located in a HIS, RIS and PACS into a single user interface and workspace. The system features order entry and registration, supply tracking, event and patient tracking, coding, paperless communication, messaging, interactive documents, online order requisition, reaction tracking, technique capture, peer review, speech recognition and digital dictation, PACS integration and bi-directional communication.
