June 4, 2007 - Verathon has introduced the GlideScope Cobalt Single-Use Video Laryngoscope, which enables fast intubations and eliminates time-consuming disinfection procedures. The new scope provides a clear, real-time view of a patient’s airway, making it ideal for use in the ED, as well as for OR and ICU applications.

The GlideScope Cobalt’s design is based on the GlideScope reusable video laryngoscope that, according to the company, achieves a Cormack-Lehane Grade I or Grade II view 99 percent of the time.

The new device consists of: a slim video baton that houses a high-resolution camera with a patented anti-fogging mechanism; a nonglare color monitor; and single-use, sterile GVL Stats in large and small sizes that offer a patented 60-degree blade angulation. Also provided are GlideRite tracheal tubes and a 90-degree rigid stylet, along with a protective cradle for the video baton. An instructional manual and setup and use quick reference cards are also included.
