Augustine Biomedical Design received FDA clearance for its Hot Dog electric patient warming system, a device that distributes heat more evenly than forced air blankets.
The system uses warming pads that consist of flexible, electrically conductive fabric heaters connected to a controller/power supply.
Problems associated with forced air warmers like blower noise, bulk and air blowing in the OR are removed with the system. It also eliminates the danger of hosing burns.
