This is a 360 degree view inside one of the brachytherapy treatment rooms at Northwestern Medicine's center in Warrenville, Ill., in the western suburbs of Chicago. The room is equipped with a Varian VariSource brachytherapy afterloader, which stores the radioactive brachytherapy seeds in a shielded container, and can push them out through catheters into the patient. The seed catheter ports are numbered to match their insertion into a patient. The room is also equipped with cameras to observe the patient and communicate with them during the radiation treatment, while staff can stay safely outside the shielded room.
