October 1, 2008 - Microsoft Corp. has entered into a global licensing agreement with Royal Philips Electronics to provide the latter’s speech recognition platform with Microsoft Amalga Family of Health Enterprise Systems.
As a result of this new alliance, Microsoft clients using the Amalga Hospital Information System (Amalga HIS) and Amalga RIS/PACS will now be able to leverage Philips SpeechMagic to capture and generate precise data and convert it into useful, sharable, and searchable information for better clinical outcomes. The vendors will soon begin the process of technology integration.
Amalga HIS is built around an electronic health record (EHR) and includes complete patient and bed management as well as an integrated radiology information system (RIS) and a picture archiving and communication system (PACS).
