Results to be presented highlight deep-learning software utility in acquisition of diagnostic-quality echocardiograms by novice scanners

Bay Labs Announces New Echocardiography Guidance Software Data at ASE 2019 Scientific Sessions

June 20, 2019 — Bay Labs announced that new data on the company’s first-of-its-kind deep learning investigational guidance software will be presented at the upcoming American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) 30th Annual Scientific Sessions, June 21-25 in Portland, Ore.

Echocardiography is the most widely used cardiac imaging modality but access to echo in point-of-care settings is often limited because it requires specialized skills to perform. Bay Labs has developed guidance software that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to aid in the acquisition of echocardiograms. The Bay Labs technology is designed to provide both non-specialist and specialist healthcare providers with real-time guidance to obtain 10 standard echocardiographic views, and designed to be integrated into an ultrasound machine. First-time data will be presented which compares the diagnostic quality of echocardiograms obtained by registered nurses (RNs) with limited training using Bay Labs technology, to the images obtained by a trained cardiac sonographer. Bay Labs guidance software is for investigational use only and not for sale.

“Evaluation of a Deep-Learning Model Designed to Aid Novice Scanners in Obtaining Diagnostic Quality Echocardiograms” will be presented by Akhil Narang, M.D., of Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
