Ring in the New Year with Change

The close of 2022 ended with a very productive and encouraging Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) 108th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting (RSNA 2022).

The close of 2022 ended with a very productive and encouraging Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) 108th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting (RSNA 2022). Nearly everyone was grateful to be back face-to-face with fellows and colleagues after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

By the numbers, RSNA22 reached a registration of nearly 38,000. It featured more than 900 scientific papers in 19 subspecialties, more than 1,300 scientific posters, over 300 education courses and more than 1,450 education exhibits, with the addition of the Learning Center Theater, all offering valuable imaging insights. The technical exhibits covered 364,000 square feet, and featured 644 exhibitors, which included the expansive AI Showcase and Theater, as well as the Imaging AI in Practice demonstration, the 3D Printing and Mixed Reality Showcase, Innovation Theater, First-time Exhibitor Pavilion, Educators Row and Recruiters Row.

Plenary sessions were aimed at understanding the patient’s perspective and creating a better patient experience, a recurring theme at this year’s conference. All plenary session presenters delivered stellar input. “The patient experience doesn’t begin with the report or even the scan,” said Bruce G. Haffty, MD, MS, in his President’s Address, Diagnostic Imaging: Value from the Lens of the Patient. “From the time the patient schedules an appointment through every follow-up, we should be working to ensure they feel comfortable, informed, supported, seen and heard.”
