This 360 degree view shows staff at the University of Colorado Heart and Vascular Center performing live transesophageal echo (TEE) ultrasound guidance during a transcatheter MitraClip repair procedure. The live color Doppler flow image on screen shows a severe mitral valve regurgitant jet prior to the MitraClip being positioned and deployed. 

They are using a Philips Epiq ultrasound system that integrates with the cath labs overhead screens to show not only 2-D and 3-D/4-D echo, but also fusion imaging with live fluoro. The EchoNavigator fusion system shows anatomical landmarks and the orientation of the patient and TEE probe beam to help everyone in the lab understand what they are looking at. MitraClip devices to repair mitral valve leaflets are deployed using TEE visualization to ensure both leaflets are engaged by the arms of the clip and to check the resulting decrease in regurgitation prior to final release.
