New features include RayCare Flow to connect RayStation treatment planning system with workflow management capabilities of RayCare and RayCare PACS

RaySearch Releases Version 3A of RayCare Oncology Information System

July 15, 2019 — RaySearch has released RayCare 3A, a new version of the next-generation oncology information system (OIS). RayCare is designed to support the workflow in a modern oncology center, connecting the different oncology disciplines, boosting efficiency and ensuring optimal use of resources. RayCare is being continually developed in collaboration with some of the leading cancer centers worldwide, according to RaySearch.

RayCare is now in clinical use at three centers worldwide. The most recent addition is Heidelberg University Hospital in Germany, who started using RayCare clinically in May 2019. The other two centers have been using RayCare since 2018, first at Iridium Cancer Network in Belgium, and at Provision Cares Proton Therapy Center in Nashville. RaySearch said the release of RayCare 3A is the first of this year`s two major versions.

RayCare 3A brings several new features to support the efficiency and workload control for radiation therapy users. The enhanced ‘Home’ workspace provides a comprehensive overview for each user’s activities, including new features such as task statistics to guide daily priorities and the option to pin tasks of interest. The RayCare workflow engine now supports modular patient workflows. This advanced feature enables the evolution of the patient workflow by adding modules of tasks when different clinical decision points are reached. The modularization of the digital workflows makes it possible to tailor the workflows to the specific patient needs and further streamline the flow of the clinic.

It also adds the patient chart summary feature that provides an at-a-glance patient-centered overview and a hub for quick navigation to important workspaces. It will also be possible to automatically trigger plan generation protocols in RayStation from RayCare, based on availability of image data. Furthermore, there are usability and performance enhancements throughout the product as well as extended connectivity with other hospital systems.

RayCare 3A introduces RayCare Flow, a feature package designed to connect the RayStation treatment planning system with the workflow management capabilities of RayCare and RayCare PACS (picture archiving and communication system). RayCare Flow optimizes the treatment planning process by providing automated task management for all the steps in the planning workflow. With this solution, RayCare becomes the environment from which treatment planning is coordinated and managed. To support resource management and workload visibility of planning tasks, RayCare Flow includes an interactive real-time planning whiteboard. RayCare Flow can improve resource management, increase efficiency of treatment planning workflow and capture all clinical communications, as well as automate image management.
