Suite of report generation software tools will aid with MQSA management

Ikonopedia, BelleBridge, teleradiology, breast imaging, MWSA management system

May 27, 2015 — Ikonopedia announced that its breast imaging reporting tools and Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) management system have been selected for use by BelleBridge, which provides telemedicine services for interpretations of breast screening and diagnostic examinations.

BelleBridge is a telemedicine provider specializing in remote breast diagnostics. Designed to dramatically increase diagnostic accuracy, the turn-key service can be cost-efficiently implemented in scarcely populated rural areas as well as in highly populated urban locations. Providing remote diagnostic and interpretation services for screening mammography, diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound and breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), BelleBridge combines cutting-edge technology and expert radiologists with logistical efficiency to effectively address efficiency and quality challenges that underserved areas face domestically and globally. The Ikonopedia installation is expected to provide structured reporting capabilities for all breast imaging exams interpreted by BelleBridge breast radiologists on behalf of clients, which include radiology groups, breast centers, hospitals and independent imaging facilities.

"While breast imaging technology has made tremendous advances over the past several years with digital mammography, tomosynthesis and automated breast ultrasound, the true lynchpin to quality breast care is access to dedicated breast imagers," said Elmar A. Davé, MBA, chief operating officer, BelleBridge. "Ikonopedia is a perfect partner for improving breast care, offering breast specific reporting tools, risk assessment software and MQSA tracking capabilities that provide tremendous workflow and efficiency benefits that enable us to drive access to high quality breast imaging through the industry's first true breast telehealth service."

Ikonopedia's suite of report generation software tools includes Screening MRI, Diagnostic MRI, Diagnostic Ultrasound and Biopsy in addition to Screening and Diagnostic Mammography. For each modality, context-specific images and educational materials are available via a reference library drawn from the teaching files and maintained by Ikonopedia founders and contributors.

Designed to optimize breast imaging workflow, Ikonopedia's reporting tools are based on indexing breast findings based on what they look like rather than what they are called. While Ikonopedia's proprietary drag-and-drop lesion locator has been customized for each of the reporting modalities, all have the same consistent layout for efficiency. All reports are guaranteed to be 100 percent BI-RADS language compliant and current with the Atlas 5th Edition. Built-in metrics show a median screening report time of 33 seconds — with many under 10 seconds – and many reporting errors common with dictation such as inappropriate BI-RADS, incomplete reports, and wrong-side reporting are eliminated automatically.

The new MQSA notification and follow-up system is designed to help users remain compliant with MQSA. The system can manage all patient tracking and communication capabilities, including letters, calls and certified/registered mail based on customized user-defined protocols. Ikonopedia provides flexibility in all required patient notifications and letters can be personalized by BI-RADS category, breast density, exam-type and risk assessment score, and can be batch printed with facility logos and government-mandated language. With the letter filter system, patients with dense breasts or high risk score can receive a context-specific letter that is appropriate for them. Ikonopedia provides a full-enterprise mammography audit that captures all data mandated by MQSA with no additional data entry. Eliminating the need for manual tracking processes, users can create reports at the enterprise level or segmented at the site/clinic level, or by individual radiologist.
