March 13, 2024 — The Health Information Management Systems Society, HIMSS, and the Korean Health Information Service signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on March 12, the first day of the HIMSS Global Conference and Exhibition, HIMSS 2024, being held March 11-15 in Orlando, Fla. According to HIMSS, the MOU establishes a three-year collaborative relationship between HIMSS and the Republic of Korea for Electronic Medical Record adoption in hospitals throughout the country.

Hal Wolf, president and CEO, HIMSS, and Geun Chan Lim, CEO of Korea Health Information Service, based in Seoul, South Korea, represented their respective organizations during the signing. According to an overview of the news published by HIMSS Media outlet Healthcare Finance, Wolf commented on how pleased HIMSS is to have established the relationship with hospitals in Korea. For his part, Lim said the collaboration with a healthcare IT leader will help his country achieve EMR standards nationwide.

Samsung Medical Center has already received HIMSS Stage 7 designation four times for harnessing technology in the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model, or EMRAM, as reported by ITN in a recent news update of HIMSS announcing the launch of its new modernized Infrastructure Adoption Model (INFRAM).
