Philips to Display Hybrid Imaging at SNM

April 22, 2011 – At the Society of Nuclear Medicine’s annual meeting, Philips will highlight several new imaging systems. The meeting will take place June 4-8 in San Antonio, Texas.

Ingenuity TF PET/CT

Philips Ingenuity TF PET/CT is a premium hybrid imaging system to conduct studies in oncology imaging, cardiac perfusion and diagnostic CT. The system includes Time-of-Flight technology for exceptional speed and full-fidelity PET (positron emission tomography) imaging to enhance patient care. It also improves imaging performance with the introduction of Astonish TF, the next evolution of Time-of-Flight (TOF) technology.

Combined with 4-D TOF capabilities, Astonish TF shows a 50 percent improved contrast resolution while maintaining quantitative accuracy with up to four times the reconstruction speed of previous-generation systems. Additionally, the system features iDose4 for an undivided and holistic approach to low-dose, high-quality CT imaging.

BrightView XCT

The BrightView XCT offers High Resolution SPECT with up to 50 percent improvement in spatial resolution with Astonish for cardiac SPECT studies. The system integrates BrightView SPECT in a co-planar design with advanced flat detector X-ray CT technology to take full advantage of both SPECT and CT without compromising either. It represents the first time the company has used a flat panel X-ray detector for the purpose of CT imaging.

The high resolution of the flat panel allows for true isotropic voxels and provides high-quality images when viewed at any angle. Co-planar SPECT and CT capabilities eliminate the need to index the bed between the two acquisitions, for many studies, providing greater confidence in image registration. Attenuation correction helps to reduce image artifacts and may help physicians make more confident diagnoses, especially in cardiology applications.

In addition, high-resolution localization using low CT dose to patients provides anatomical information to aid in the diagnosis and helps provide more accurate reporting of lesion location based on the anatomy displayed by CT. The system fits into a room as small as 15 feet 6 inches by 12 feet (4.72 meters by 3.66 meters) with reduced shielding and no need to reinforce flooring in most cases.
