System improves the patient experience, diagnostic confidence and image quality

Toshiba Celesteion PET/CT, Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology

February 10, 2016 — Patients at Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology’s (FVHO) new cancer care center are receiving a better imaging experience and more accurate positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scans with Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc.’s Celesteion PET/CT system.

The new FVHO Health & Wellness Center, which opened in September 2015, will use the Celesteion PET/CT system to image and plan treatment for cancer patients, as well as open up a new service line in the future for orthopedic imaging.

“The Celesteion is a ‘one-stop-shop’ system that can perform PET and CT imaging all at once, which eliminates the need to schedule multiple appointments, making imaging easier and faster for staff and patients,” said Sheri Krueger, diagnostic center coordinator, FVHO Health & Wellness Center. “In our experience, the system produces phenomenal and clear images with little to no artifacts, especially with larger patients. Additionally, claustrophobic patients regularly comment on the system’s large bore, which gives them a feeling of openness and more room.”

Toshiba’s Celesteion PET/CT system delivers a more comfortable patient experience with what the company calls the industry’s largest bore (90 cm CT and 88 cm PET), an expansive field-of-view and time-of-flight imaging. The versatile system combines high-performance PET and CT for all radiation and oncology imaging needs, including tumor detection, treatment evaluation and CT simulation. Helping to ensure patient safety is not a choice, Celesteion comes standard with Toshiba’s advanced CT dose reduction technology, AIDR 3D.
