Image sharing and management platform now integrated with Cerner PowerChart EMR at more than 30 healthcare systems

lifeIMAGE, image sharing solutions, 2015 Cerner Health Conference

October 15, 2015 — lifeIMAGE announced its participation in the 2015 Cerner Health Conference (CHC), Cerner’s annual healthcare event taking place in Kansas City, Missouri, Oct. 11 – 14.

lifeIMAGE showcased the latest developments in its medical image sharing and management solutions for Cerner clients at the conference. The lifeIMAGE platform integrates with the Cerner PowerChart EMR (electronic medical record) to provide clinicians and multidisciplinary care teams with convenient, consistent access to patients’ medical imaging histories, regardless of where studies were performed. This EMR integration makes external exams accessible from the local patient record for care planning and during patient encounters, streamlining care coordination and reducing the need for repeat imaging studies.

According to industry estimates, wasteful spending accounts for more than half of the $2.2 trillion spent on healthcare delivery annually in the United States. One reason for this waste is lack of interoperability. Patient data is often caught up in proprietary data silos, limiting access to health information, creating unnecessary bottlenecks and delaying treatment. The lifeIMAGE platform addresses this problem through its standards-based exchange architecture that makes imaging information available to authorized organizations, users and applications.

Cerner partnered with lifeIMAGE in late 2013 to facilitate advancements to the “Share” portion of Cerner’s “Capture, Store, Access, and Share” strategy. To date, more than 30 healthcare systems have implemented lifeIMAGE.
