Statement of purpose:
MR imaging is increasingly being used in imaging of the abdomen and pelvis. Improved image quality, shortened scan durations, variety of anatomical and functional information that can be obtained by MR imaging and increased concerns about hazards of radiation exposure in the population are the main factors increasing its utilization. As a national trend, body MRI volume has been steadily increasing despite the decline in the body CT numbers. Several new clinical indications and therefore, new body MRI examinations have been added during the last 5-10 years. The challenge for radiologists and technologists is to keep up with the fast advances in hardware, software and MR sequences as well as to acquire skills to perform and interpret these new examinations. The overarching purposes of this webinar are to review the recent technical advances in body MRI and familiarize you with the performance and interpretation of emerging, popular body MRI examinations, which may also help in growing your body MRI practice.
Learning objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify the recent technical developments and trends in body MR imaging including the new developments in 3T scanners
- Review the emerging concept of quantitative body MR imaging by using DW-MRI and DCE-MRI as examples
- Implement and interpret new body MRI applications
- Recognize MRI guided procedures which can be performed at outpatient facilities
All radiology staff.
